WELCOME TO FARMAROUND

Farmaround is a weekly home delivery service of organic produce covering North Yorkshire and the North East of England. Once you have placed an order we will deliver to you automatically each week or at your desired frequency. However, you are under no obligation to continue receiving farmaround produce and can contact us at any time to amend, cancel or suspend your order.

We deliver to different postcodes on different days of the week. Click here to find out when your delivery day will be.

There is a minimum order value of £11.50 of fresh produce which is the price of the Standard Organic Vegetable Bag. It may comprise any of the various vegetable bags, modules and fruit selections. The base of your order will be fruit and vegetables to which you may add groceries as you wish. We do not supply groceries on their own. There is a £1 delivery charge.

The contents of our bags vary each week and according to the season. We endeavour to make the selections interesting without being obscure. We use produce that is as local as possible, however it is necessary to also look further afield to bring you the wide variety of produce for which we pride ourselves. You can check ‘This Week' on our website to see the likely contents of the bags.

If noone is at home to receive your order, your driver will leave it in a safe place that you can specify, such as with a neighbour or in your garden shed. If we have not received instructions from you, your driver will leave it in a sensible place and put a note through your door as to its whereabouts.

We ask that your first order be paid for by credit/debit card. Thereafter, we can hold securely your card details and automatically charge your card after each order has been received. Alternatively you can pay by Standing Order.

Dear Customer,

After more than twenty years in London I have come home to the North of England. I started farmaround in London in 1994. This was prior to the major pesticide scares and BSE, when factory and intensive farming began to be called into question. The only outlets for organic produce were wholefood shops where it tended to be expensive and of dubious quality. Organics was suffering a bad reputation and the few organic farmers that existed were struggling to find a market for their produce. To purchase it from the farms and deliver it directly to the doorsteps of Londoners reduced the price, improved the freshness and offered a reliable outlet for the farmers.

We were the first company to setup making weekly deliveries of assorted boxes of fresh organic produce to the door. It was an instant success and we gained alot of help along the way by the numerous articles written about us in the national press. We were soon delivering thousands of packages each week across greater London. Now, ten years on the business in London is still thriving and we have retained many of those customers who started with us in 1994.

In May 2003 I moved back to North Yorkshire to launch FarmaroundNorth. We are using as much local produce as the seasons allow as well as bringing produce from Linconshire, Somerset Devon and Kent. We also work with small farmers and co-operaives in Sicily, Andalusia and Provence in the South of France to bring you directly sun ripened tomatoes on the vine, peppers, aubergines, peaches, apricots, melons, avocadoes and all the other things that we simply can't grow here.

We are currently engaged in a project involving the Heritage Seed Library to try and revive some of the old and unusual varieties of fruit and vegetables that are no longer commercially grown and which face extinction. They are a feature of our fresh produce bags during the English season.

We are proud to support and be associated with Compassion in World Farming and their tremendous work as they strive to gain a better life for farm animals. They are working both here and across the globe to end factory farming and the cruel, unnecessary live export of animals.

All of us at farmaround endeavour to provide you with the best quality of produce and the best possible service that we can. As demand for organics increases, so more land will be converted back to organic methods. Fertile soils, clean running streams, meadows full of wild flowers and hedgerows teeming with wildlife will no longer just be the image of our past but the image of our future.

We are eternally grateful to our loyal customers for all their support and for enabling us to provide an alternative way to shop.

Best wishes
